Portuguese: Análise acústica do tap em coda no PB

  • This work purpouses an acoustic analysis about the R-sound "tap" occurring in coda position for BP speakers from Curitiba. Previous data indicated that after the production of the rhotic and the pause which succeeded the end of the word where the rhotic is inserted, there is an acoustic event similar to a short vowel, which we called vowel element. There was two hypotheses: the first was that this vowel element was the tonic vowel present on the same syllable where the tap occurs, and this R-sound splits the vowel in two parts; or the vowel element was just an acoustic event to prop the R-sound, given that it is a short acoustic event that demands a good articulatory accuracy. An experiment was designed and after acoustic analysis, it seems that the vowel element is not the vowel split in two, it is more like a schwa sound.

English: Comparação acústica entre o retroflexo do INAS e o retroflexo do PB

  • After observe the phenomenon described about, this work was developed to create a methodology to compare R-sounds from brazilian portuguese and american standard english, based over the acoustic analysis of both compared data. Unfortunately, this experiment was not executed, but it was evaluated by some english teachers.
